Two of the earlier posts on this blog were about understanding the Auto Complete feature. Following are the links to these posts:

Solitaire: Auto Complete Followup

Based on the rules outlined in the posts above, Auto Complete feature should have worked for the following board layout:

The Auto Complete feature should have pulled out the “5 of Diamonds” from the back of the Draw Open stack and moved it to Foundation 4 stack.

The Auto Complete feature did not work as expected. It first moved the “8 of Clubs” to the Tableau 6 stack. Next it pulled out the “5 of Diamonds” from the back of the Draw Open stack and moved it to Foundation 4 stack.

Based on the above moves, I am guessing, the following additional rule applies to the Auto Complete feature:

Face value of the hidden card is less than the face value of the top card

As “Jack of Hearts” had a greater face value that “8 of Clubs”, the above rule was violated and hence Auto Complete feature did not pull out the “5 of Diamonds”. Once “8 of Clubs” was moved out of the stack the above rule was no longer violated and the “5 of Diamonds” could now be moved.

I have updated the original post with this rule. Hopefully this is the final update.
